NO COUPONS TOMORROW!!

Just a quick note to let you all know that there will be NO COUPONS IN TOMORROW'S PAPER! It's Easter, and there are usually NO COUPON INSERTS on HOLIDAY WEEKENDS.

I pray that everyone has a blessed Easter!!

4 Coupon Inserts in this Sunday's Paper!!

First I want to say a BIG THANK YOU to A Thrifty Mom for the heads up notice!! I knew there would be at least three inserts, I had no idea there would be four!!! So if you haven't started your coupon stash BUY SUNDAY PAPERS THIS SUNDAY!!!!!! 

Here's what I do:

Early in the morning I go to my local newspaper stand box for the OC WEEKLY and I buy 2 OC WEEKLY's. FP: $3.00

Then I buy 2 Press Telegram's. FP: $2.00

THEN I go to the 99 cent store (or if I can't make it I ask my Sister-in-law since she lives right down the street from one) and I buy 4-6 LA TIMES. Normal price at the newspaper stand: $1.50ea. At the 99 cent store: $.99!!!! 

Total Cost for 10 Sunday newspapers: $11.00 

Does that seem costly to you? I challenge you to look at it this way. If there are at least 11 coupons that you can use which value at $1.00 you've recovered the cost of your papers. HOWEVER rarely have I found ONLY 11 coupons valued at $1.00 that I can use!! There are SO much more than that!! The savings using coupons are ENORMOUS!! Look at my last VONS shopping trip. I bought over $200 worth of groceries, but I only spent $50+ dollars OUT OF POCKET!!!! That's over $150 in savings! Looking at it that way does $11.00 seem like a high cost to reach those kind of savings? I didn't think so!

SO if you aren't used to buying Sunday papers, or clipping coupons THIS SUNDAY 4/5 is the PERFECT day to start with the highest amount of instant rewards! I'm giddy thinking about all of the great coupons that can be in 4 inserts! Multiply each of the 4 inserts by 10 papers! That's 40 inserts!! Seeing as how most coupons expire at least 60 days from now that's at least 8 weeks of savings!!!

Are you starting to see a trend here? A fresh new outlook on things!! Instead of looking at the cost spent on newspapers and thinking, 'That's a lot of money for newspapers!' you should look at it this way, 'Wow that's a lot more money I will be saving without those newspapers and the coupon inserts!'. Hey we all have to start somewhere! Start small..... follow my lead! The first Sunday I ever clipped a coupon I bought 2 papers, from the 99 cent store. Total cost: $2.00. Two months later (yes I've ONLY been clipping coupons for 2 months now) I am up to 10 newspapers at total cost: $11.00. BUT those first few weeks I saved on average $20 per shopping trip. Which was GOOD!! That's an extra $80 saved per month!! Now two months and 10 papers later, I'm saving on average $200 per shopping trip!! 

So I encourage newbies to start small, and go for the instant rewards! Set goals in the beginning to buy at least 2 papers on Sunday and clip the coupons. Then set the goal of trying to save at least $5-10 on every grocery bill! My favorite thing to do is to wait until the very end of the transaction to swipe my member savings card, and hand over my coupons. That way I can see the final cost lower. BAM! Instant reward! You see the cost drop before your very eyes! Seeing that makes it more real, and besides being rewarding is also encouraging!! If I can do this, anyone can do this!! (If you ever met me than you'd understand! I'm quite the frazzled sight to behold at times! haha!!)

So go buy those papers this Sunday!!

Kellog's Raisin Bran Extra Coupon

Did you see the full page add for Kellog's Raisin Bran EXTRA in the Sunday paper? Instead of there being a clippable $1.00 coupon you have to text  the number given, and then text your email address, and then print the emailed coupon good for $1.00/ANY Raisin Bran Product. Hmm. It sure seems like a lot of extra work to get the coupon, but we love Raisin Bran, and I love $1.00/1 coupons for cereal! So I did the extra steps, and voila! My coupon was in my inbox waiting for me! If there are several different cell phone numbers and email addresses in your household you may even be able to print several of these coupons for even better savings. I say MAY because I was unable to try this out today. If you try it out and it works PLEASE LET ME KNOW, so I can confirm my suspicions! (Thanks!)

Sunday 3/29 Coupons

Just a quick note regarding todays coupons. I picked up several copies of the LA Times, OC Register, and Press Telegram and was pretty happy about the amount of GOOD coupons today! If you haven't already done so I suggest you go buy at least one copy of all 3 papers if you can! Trust me, with the amount of $1 off and B1/G1 coupons it's worth the $4 you will spend buying the 3 papers. 

If you have a 99 Cent Store near you I recommend buying your LA Times there. It's only $.99!

Also, not sure if this was just a fluke, or if it was only my Starbucks that charges this, but I purchased one LA Times this morning on my way to church and it was only $.75! I'm thinking it might've been a fluke since that's the normal weekly price of the paper. I was in such a hurry, and the line was getting pretty long behind me (full of anxious people waiting for their morning fix) that I didn't want to hold up the line with a bunch of questions, so I didn't ask the girl about the pricing.  BUT with that said, it still might be worth it to try your local Starbucks (as there IS one on just about every corner) in the off chance the pricing was not a fluke! Then you would be able to buy 2 LA Times for the price of 1!!

I'll post more great coupon deals and matchups later. Right now I have one little one waking up from a nap, and the other one with possible Chicken Pox!

Because if it IS Chicken Pox than my son will surely give it to his 1 yr old brother, and then because we homeschool and have all the kids home with us all week long our 5 and 7 year old girls will get it as no one has had it yet.... Did I say wish me luck? I mean PRAY for my sanity! =)

Money Saving Tips

For those of you new to coupon clipping, or just plain new to the concept of shopping frugally, I’d like to include different tips, advice, and links to the women and their blogs who’ve helped me tremendously! I was overwhelmed in the beginning of my quest to save more money, reduce our grocery bill, (to under $300/month for a family of 6!) find more ways and opportunities to give and help others in need, and to become a more responsible steward of all that the Lord has blessed us with! I’m still learning the ropes, and everyday finding new ways to lead a more frugal lifestyle, all the while glorifying God in the process. I have found this site to be invaluable! It is full of free deals, almost free deals, and weekly sales/promotions at different stores throughout the country, such as CVS, Walgreens, Target, and Wal Mart! This blog is updated daily, and I’ve found that if I check it in the morning, I find great money saving deals! For example, a few months ago I was alerted to a FREE SUBSCRIPTION to Martha Stewart Living magazine via this blog! In the last week I’ve received 4 different Martha Stewart Living magazines! How cool is that!?
