Some Photos

I figured since I haven't posted much in the last two weeks I would post some pictures of what we've been up to around here. With four kids, there is never a dull moment!

My $20.22 Buy Low Produce Deal last Tuesday.
(Sale is over so I won't post details)

My $77 Target/Albertsons Deals two weeks ago
I saved $218.21!!
($42.25 was spent on Diapers/Wipes which doesn't come out of our $300 a month food budget I spent $35.05 on all of the food products, and using coupons got 29 items FREE and 32 items for under $1.00!!)
[These sales, and coupons have expired so I won't list the details]

This is my oldest Son. His face tells all.
He KNEW he was in BIG trouble!
Luckily it wasn't permanent marker,
AND
I had stocked up on Mr. Clean Magic Erasers!!

I took pictures of the initial damage, but was a bit angry when I discovered red, purple, yellow, and blue marker ALL OVER MY TAN COUCH about 10 minutes after this was cleaned up, and I told him that it was a "No-No"!!
I didn't take pictures of that
Here is my Husband trying to practice for Spirit West Coast, and our youngest son needing to be in the thick of it.
Just because I think he's the cutest little bug out there!

And here is my one year old, proud that he managed to escape the house wearing only a bib on his head.

Miss Diva's Frugal Shoe Fix

I must say, my 7 year old Miss Diva is pretty Frugal herself! She decorated her shoes with plastic ties, from a newspaper I think. (?) She takes after her Mommy!

Oh My The Messes You Make!!

This morning while everyone was busy rushing about getting dressed, Kai was quietly feeding himself his oatmeal, with his trusted spoon, rather content with himself. It wasn't until Richard went to clean Kai up and take him out of the highchair that we realized why he was so content with himself! All I heard from the other room was, "Kai James Wilson! Oh my!" I come into to find the most horrendous mess! I'm not sure how much of the oatmeal Kai was even ate! There was oatmeal everywhere! All over the wall behind him, the wall next to him, the high chair, the curtain, the table, the floor. EVERYWHERE!! It looked like he took the spoon, and flung oatmeal, food fight style! Of course this realization comes at the point where we are almost ready to walk out the door. Of course, right? Isn't that how it always is with kids? You're ready to walk out the door when you realize that someone's poopy, again. Or someone's missing a shoe, or the ever important snuggli! Grrr! So the next half hour was spent with Richard trying to get oatmeal boy cleaned up and dressed, while I was busy with my sponge and bucket of water cleaning practically every surface of our dining room! And for those of you who have kids, you understand the plight of trying to "wipe" up any cooked cereal! It just smears. For those of you who don't have kids yet, ha, just you wait! =o)

I'm starting to think I have a "boy wonder" on my hands, because Boy! Do I wonder sometimes!

(At least this wasn't as bad as the "poop" incident, as we busy trying to get ready and leave for Colorado!)

What did YOUR kids do in school today?

Today was one of those days that I just praised God for being able to homeschool my kids! Homeschooling has been and continues to be such a huge blessing to our family! We recently started learning about Ancient Egypt, and Cassidy is fascinated! We've been reading Exodus alongside our Egypt studies, since Moses lived in Egypt, and returned to lead Israel out of Egypt. Right now she's enthralled with mummies! She gets a bit grossed out learning about how the Ancient Egyptians performed their mummification process, especially the parts about pulling the brain out through the nose with a metal hook, or removing all of the internal organs, and filling the body with natron. Even though she gets grossed out looking at pictures of the process (none which are graphic) she chose to start a mummy project of her own. So today we went outside (where the temperature was like that of Egypt!) and started our mummies. We tore up newspaper into strips, shaped modeling clay into mummy forms, and with watered down glue and a paintbrush started covering the mummies with layers of newspaper. About 20 minutes into the project, the girls decided that with the heat it would be more fun to play in the water with Kai, and get soaking wet. Why not? Water play can be incorporated into school can't it? Well Cassidy found a way on her own. She got into the dirt, made her own Nile River, and then decided it would be more fun to orchestrate one of the annual Nile Floods we just read about, complete with fire truck "crocodiles", and a "baby Moses" (aka Kai). All three kids played in the water and mud for at least an hour, and Cassidy moved from her Egypt theme, to an ocean theme, where she flung water everywhere creating gyres. (Ocean surface currents, or "Jares" as she calls them) Corinne was left to run screaming from every Nile Crocodile, or Jellyfish, or Shark that Cassidy convinced her were chasing her. Kai was just content to be playing in the mud, getting wet, running after sister's, and climbing stairs. All in all, this was a pretty good school day I'd say. I was left wondering as I finished the clean up what the other kids did in school today, sitting at their desks in a hot, crowded room. It made me smile, and praise God for the freedom that my kids have!!

He is getting SO big!

I can't believe how big Kai is getting! Mischevious too! He's an absolute joy though. He's so much fun. The girls enjoy playing with him, and even when it's rough-housing he's right in the thick of it with them. He's looking more and more like his Daddy now. Here's a couple of recent pictures of Kai.

Kai and his Jack Nicholson eyebrows.... "Here's Johnny!" =o)

Don't let the cuteness deceive you, he's ornery as all get out!

What's New in the Neighborhood....

So here's what's new in the Land of Wilson...

Kai is getting SO big SO fast, and has a whole new bag of tricks! He's starting to just jabber away! Here's the list of words he says regularly. "BYE" "HI" "DADDY" "MAMA" "BABA" "CASSIDY" (though it sounds more like 'ADDUHDEE") and now it sounds like he's starting to say "BABY". I'm trying to get him to say Corinne, but we're not there yet. He's getting much braver too! He's starting to stand on his own now, and he's wanting to be walked around a lot more! He walks a little sideways, especially if he's just holding on to one hand for assistance. He's also developing quite the temper, or I guess I should say his temper is really starting to show itself. Yay for Mommy. =o) He's not going to be that super duper easy, laid back kid like his Daddy that we were hoping for. Nope. Instead he's going to have the stubborness, strong-will, and temper of the Burbridge's, just like Me, Cassidy, and Corinne. Me and Cassidy mainly. He's also biting. Something which we are trying to put a stop to right away. He's like a little puppy dog! It's brought a whole new meaning to that little poem for me... (boys are made of snails and puppy dog tails....) He's in constant motion, investigating everything, getting into everything, biting everything! His teeth are just as sharp as a little puppy's too!! Let's see what else is he up to? OH. His new trick is opening up my fridge and getting into it. Right now he's only been getting into the stuff on the bottom of the fridge door like my sticks of butter, but it won't be long before he's making all sorts of ungodly messes on my floor. He's also developing quite the little knack for flirting! It's rather adorable actually. He plays coy and puts his head to the side almost to his shoulder all the while smiling at the object of his affection. All in all he's quite the little guy, keeping me busy for sure! He's so much fun, and so infectious! I'd rather watch him for hours rather than the tv. He's more fun.

Corinne is getting so big too! We looked at her the other day, and couldn't believe our eyes! She's not a little girl anymore! She doesn't have that little girl look anymore. It seems overnight that she became a little young lady, and we're just left figuring out when it happened. She's very excited about Mommy learning how to sew, as is big sister. Her a little more though I think. She went with me to the fabric store a couple of weeks ago, and was so excited when she found two fabrics that she loved, and was even more excited when Mommy bought them. (for $1.25/yd it was very affordable) They're cute too, and they match. They're both pink, one is a paisley design, the other a heart design. She can't wait to have a dress or skirt made out of them! There actually might be enough for both! Won't she be surprised. =o) She's also doing really well with learning and writing her alphabet. She can now spell her name, knows all of the alphabet by sight, can write almost the entire alphabet, and almost knows the entire alphabet by sound. (She is only 4) She's also started ballet and has had 3 classes so far. She LOVES it!!!! She never got as excited about gymnastics as she does ballet. It's so cute to watch too! In her class they are all 4 year olds, and at her dance studio they ONLY teach ballet, and they start off with the basics of ballet. Watching her class do all the positions and try to hold them is like watching someone try and stand a wet noodle on end. They wibble wobble every which direction. It's adorable! Here's a funny little story about Corinne. I made 26 shoe prints out of felt and on one side put all capital letters, and the other side all lower case letters. It's called Corinne's alphabet stomp. (An idea I found online) Last week I asked Corinne to stomp on the letter that says... and I would say the sound of the letter. This is what transpired:
Mommy: "Corinne stomp on the letter that says /y/u/h/ like yo-yo"
Corinne stomped on the Y.
Mommy: "Corinne stomp on the letter that says /l/ like Lion"
Corinne stomped on the L. We repeated a second time this time around it went something like this:
Mommy: "Corinne stomp on the letter that says /y/u/h/ like yellow"
Corinne stomps on the L.
Mommy: "No Corinne not the L" and I repeat myself. She again steps on the L. So I say,
"Corinne stomp on the letter that says /y/u/h/ like yogurt." She AGAIN steps on the L! I tell her "No, not the L"
I asked her to say the words yellow and yogurt.
Corinne: "LELLOW" "LOGURT"
I just laughed. For some reason she can say 'yo-yo', but not yogurt, or yellow. No matter how many times you correct her, Yogurt is Logurt, and Yellow is Lellow.

Cassidy is doing well all the way around. She's training for Level 5 in gymnastics, and is really doing well during her practices. Her coaches are pushing them very hard, and the amount of strength and conditioning they do is unbelievable! I couldn't do half of what Cassidy does on a regular basis. She's also doing really well in school. Math will more than likely be her strong suit. She gets it so quickly! We're much farther ahead in Math than we are in anything else. She's learning fractions and basic geometry right now, and it's coming so easily to her. It doesn't confuse her at all. Me on the other hand never understood geometry, and fractions, well let's just say math is NOT my strong suit. Her reading is doing very well too. She's starting to develop a love for reading, which I am so thrilled about! Especially since reading has long been a favorite for me since I was 3 years old. She sits for hours with a book, and she is also developing a love for her Bible. Another thing I am SO thrilled about! She will sit there for long periods of time, reading passages in her bible. What a blessing it is to see your little one developing a love for God's word, and her love of God growing stronger!!

Anyway, that's what's going on with the Kids in this neighborhood. Mommy and Daddy will update later, but I'll leave you with this;
ONLY 6 WEEKS LEFT TO GO BEFORE BABY NUMBER 4 IS HERE!!!!!

Christmas Parties Galore...

We got to go to two Christmas parties this year. One for church, and the other Richard's company party. Both are family parties which was really nice. Our church Christmas party was a success yet again, thanks to all the hard work of Jenny, our Pastor's wife, and all of the people who gave of themselves to set up, put together baskets, and other behind the scene's work. It was a great night of blessings, the main one being all of us coming together to celebrate the birth of Christ. This year was especially nice for Richard and I being that this is the first year that we attended CCC's Christmas party as part of the CCC family. (CCC=Calvary Chapel Cerritos) THANK YOU PASTOR DAVE and JENNY for putting on such a wonderful evening!!

Richard's company party was also a night full of fun. The owners of the company put the party on every year and make it a family friendly event. Which is pretty cool, not many companies do that. It was by far the best company Christmas party I've ever been to. Another thing I thought was fantastic about the whole company party, was that the owners did not concern themselves with political correctness. They didn't throw a "Holiday Party". Their invitations didn't say, "Happy Holidays", or "Season's Greetings". It was a CHRISTMAS party. That was a very nice touch, and nobody was offended, because practically all of the employees and their families were there. It was held at Joe's Garage in Tustin, and there was something for everyone there. There were lots of nice cars to walk around and oogle, there was a game room set up in the back for the older kids, with a bunch of arcade games, and such. Then there was a room for the younger kids full of Santa's Elves doing arts and crafts, and face painting. They even had Santa and Mrs. Clause in attendance! (And Santa was the most realistic looking Santa I've ever met!) All of the little kids got a chance to meet Santa, tell him what they wanted for Christmas, and then as they were leaving Santa gave them a gift. That was a nice touch! The looks on the kids faces when Santa handed them a gift was priceless! There was also a dance floor, which my girls rarely left all night. They danced their little hearts out all night, regardless of who was watching them. And let me tell you, for being the "shy" one, Corinne sure had no inhibitions on the dance floor! She commanded everyone's attention, and boy did she get it! I wished we'd had our video camera on us. O'well.

Thanksgiving 2007

We went up to Richard's Mom's house for Thanksgiving this year. We had a pretty lazy day, and took the kids to the park while dinner was cooking. Here's a couple of pics... I'm still looking for the family Thanksgiving pic. Hmmm.... I wonder....

Halloween

We didn't have the girls this year for Halloween so we didn't do any trick or treating. But I did end up getting Kai a costume, more for Daddy since Halloween is one of his favorite holidays. We didn't do anything for Halloween really, no passing out candy... I was kinda bah humbug about the whole thing. But here's the pictures of the kids in their adorable little costumes.

Cinderella, and 2 High School Musical Cheerleaders.
Oh but of course!!

Birthdays

Cassidy turned 6 on Oct. 27th, and Richard turned 26 on Oct. 30th. Since we didn't have Cassidy on her actual birthday this year, and things were a bit hectic, we only had a small birthday dinner for both Cassidy and Richard. The girls however did help me with something big for Richard. He's never had a Halloween cake, and since it's his favorite holiday, that's what we did for him. For being our first time ever making something like it, I think it turned out pretty cool. Richard and the girls loved it, so that's all that matters.

Kai's up to something...

Kai. Where do I begin? He's the most precious baby I've ever known! He's so sweet, and cuddly. He has the best personality, and is such a good baby! He's always happy, even after just getting shots! He was not fussy as he was cutting his first two teeth, and was just happy and content as ever. There's definately something special between a Mother and a Son. I am incredibly bonded and close to both of my daughters, but there's just something different with Kai. I don't really know how to even begin to describe it, but if you're a Mother to both a son and a daughter you know exactly what I'm saying. My heart just leaps when I see Kai, and when he smiles, my heart just melts. It's such a great feeling! I could spend all day doing nothing but sitting there watching Kai. He's getting much more mobile now, and is really quite entertaining. He's not crawling yet, but he can definately get around. If he sees something he wants, he's off scooting, rocking, and grunting until he gets what he wants. Usually, what he's trying so desperately to get is something he can't have, and OH! the frustration when that something is taken away! He's got quite a temper too. Especially now that he's getting more active, and playful he throws quite the little tantrum if something is taken from him. He's quite the giggler too, and has possibly the worlds cutest laugh. But I'm Mom, so I'm sure that's an incredibly biased opinion. =o) He got his first black eye yesterday, though it didn't really turn black and blue. He was playing with Daddy at gymnastics yesterday, and his head connected with Daddy's tooth, and it cut his eye lid just a hair, barely bled, and swelled up just a tad. But you would've thought the world had ended with the way that Kai cried, and Daddy's guilt was enough to make Daddy want to cry with his son too.... Too cute. My reaction? He's a boy! It's only the first of many I'm sure! My little squishy faced chub bucket! I love him!
