My Computer Needs Fixin'

I'm SO sad! My computer, the [7th] baby of mine will be leaving for the Apple store first thing in the  morning. We've been having some long term issues with the performance [of this otherwise beautiful machine] that we ordered brand new last November.

It's a long story, but I'd be happy to share it if the demand is there.

SO.... to make this short and simple [as there is no sweetness involved...] I don't know when I will get my computer back!
GASP!

Last time it was gone for 12 days, only to come back, unfixed, because the GENIUSES, didn't deem it necessary.

I'm preparing myself for it to be gone another 12 days.

GASP!!

If that is to be the case, I will still be posting, from anywhere I can, but like the last month, [with my daughter being so sick] I won't be posting as frequently, or with ALL of the Freebies, and Frugal Finds out there in cyberland.

I will however do my grocery Frugal Finds, and weekly sales, the best that I can!

Oh,
 and P.S.

I didn't FORGET to post the RedBox code this week [like last week..] but there was actually NO CODE this week! Hopefully the first Monday in June!

Problems At Target?

I am seeing more and more posts, and comments about the way Target employees are treating people who use coupons, and how many Target employees are frequently not following their own Corporate Coupon Policy.

I've run into a few problems myself at Target, some minor, some major.
[Like being escorted out of the store by Asset Protection for trying to buy a trial sized Axe product with a Manufacturer Coupon that did not specifically exclude trial size items.
Yeah!
That was both infuriating and embarrassing!

My most recent problem at Target was on Saturday at the Cypress, Ca. location. I was buying the Oscar Mayer Hot Dogs and the Nabisco 100 calorie packs using both a Target Store Coupon AND a Manufacturer Coupon which Target Corporate Policy allows. However, the young [shall we say less than pleasant] cashier informed me that NONE of my Manufacturer Coupons would be accepted because the items that I purchased were not the EXACT same items pictured on the coupon.
[which is odd because the Target Store Coupons were accepted although I didn't purchase the EXACT item pictured... AND the wording on the MFQ's stated, "ON ANY" ...I digress.

Honestly, I tried not to scoff, or show any form of irritation. I told him that I had never heard that policy before, and I went on with my transaction, and just took my coupons back, apologizing.
[A dollar saved is not worth getting ugly over, nor inconveniencing everyone in line behind me, who is already upset at the fact, that at 2pm on a Saturday there were only 3 checkout lanes open in a busy Target...

I called Target Guest Relations while in the store, but alas they are closed on Saturdays. [darn!] So I left, with my items, and still descent savings, and I emailed Target Corporate a [very] long, detailed, email complete with locations, times, dates, and names. I asked for a "personal" email response, which surprisingly, this time I got!
[This was my 3rd email in 3 months in regards to Target Corporate Coupon Policies

I was planning on going back to Target today [never made it] but before I left the house to run my errands, I called Target Guest Relations, this time with a reference number in hand. I spoke to the nicest woman on the other end, who answered ALL of my questions, apologized for my experience on Saturday, and again informed me what the Target Coupon Policy is! She also logged a complaint on my behalf [without my asking] in regards to the experience where Asset Protection was called, and then escorted me out of the store! She was appalled that a Manager would do that!
She was a fellow coupon diva, so score for us couponers!!

I'd like to pass onto all of you what information I got today in regards to the Target Corporate Coupon Policy:
HERE is a copy of the email I got.
And this is what I was told today by the kind woman at Guest Relations:

Me: Can you use a Manufacturer Coupon combined with a Target Store Coupon?
Woman: Yes.

Me: Does Target accept Internet Printable Coupons?
Woman: Yes, as long as they have a barcode, expiration date, and redemption information and terms listed, and they need to be 'readable'

Me: When using a Manufacturer Coupon, must I buy ONLY the item pictured on the coupon?
Woman: No, I've never heard that, and I've used coupons for a long time. However there are coupons that specify what sizes you must buy, or what sizes you cannot buy.
I explained to her what I was trying to do with the Oscar Mayer and Nabisco items, and what the cashier told me:
She said, He was not following Target Policy. Cashiers must follow what is written on the coupons. If the coupon states 'ANY', than you are allowed to purchase 'ANY' not only what is pictured on the coupon.

Me: Can I use a Manufacturer Coupon for a trial or travel [there IS a difference] size item, so long as the coupon does not specifically exclude trial or travel size items?
Woman: Absolutely. Again, cashiers need to be reading the wording on the coupons, and if it does not specifically exclude those items, than it's perfectly acceptable.

Me: Can I use a Coupon on an item that is either on sale, clearance, or regularly LESS than the Coupon amount?
Woman: Yes. In the case that the item being purchased is less than the Coupon amount we CANNOT under ANY circumstances give cash back. However the cashier can, and should, adjust down the amount of the coupon. If they don't know how, any Lead, Supervisor, or Manager can, and should assist them. If you have any problems, you can always ask them to call Guest Relations.

Me: I noticed that with the Oscar Mayer items I was purchasing the Register beeped and a notice popped up saying, "Items not purchased" when I did purchase the items, and quantity stated in the coupon.
Woman: Sometimes the registers don't cooperate. The cashier should double check the items, and the wording on the coupon, and if everything is correct, they should push through the coupon. Or ask a Lead or Manager to push through the coupon.

Me: What should I do if I encounter these same problems again while shopping at Target?
Woman: You have a couple of different options. You can ask for the Lead on Duty, who should be able assist you in fixing the problem. Or you can ask for the Store Manager and if they are there, they should be able to assist you. However, you can always ask the Lead on Duty, any of the Supervisors, or Managers to call Guest Relations from the Store, and we will instruct them what to do, and how to push through the coupons.

Me: Should I ask them to call while still in line, or should I ask the cashier to set my purchase aside, void it, and walk over to Customer Service for help resolving the issue?
Woman: Well you can have a Lead call Guest Relations from the Register Lane, we've had that happen before, but I recommend putting your stuff aside, and going to Customer Service, to be considerate of the other Target Shoppers.
[I agree with her 100% on that!! Regardless of the situation ALWAYS be POLITE, KIND, and CONSIDERATE of the people around you!]

She also said to make sure that if you choose to call Guest Relations on your own, try to do it from INSIDE the store, as they are better able to help you resolve the issue at hand, and they are able to speak to the Supervisors or Managers right away, and instruct them on the Coupon Policy, rather than having to do it all through emails! It's MUCH more effective that way!
For any of you who like to shop at Target, and either use or are starting to use coupons, I HIGHLY recommend you program Target Guest Relations' phone number into your cell phones, or have it on you when you go to Target. Sadly there might be a time where you run into a problem.

I know this is a lengthy post, but I felt it absolutely necessary! I enjoy finding great savings at Target, and walking out with bags of Freebies, all because I'm a smart shopper! However I don't enjoy the hassle, and border line harassment I've experienced consistently at Target, and if I can help inform all of you, and help you be prepared in these cases, we all come out on top!!

I also recommend printing out a copy of the [third] email sent to me from Target Corporate and keep it in your coupon stash so you can pull it out if necessary, to KINDLY inform the employee in question of their Company Policy.

I don't think I can stress that enough!!
  Especially if you're Christian
The world is watching us keenly, not missing anything!
Is saving a few dollars really worth looking like a raving lunatic, screaming, shouting, being angry, ugly, rude, and mean, further perpetrating the bad wrap for all of us who use coupons?

Will that Glorify the Lord?
Will that win souls for Christ?

In today's economy people are HURTING! They are STRUGGLING! When they see you with your coupons, saving LOTS of money, they want to know how too! That is the perfect opportunity to BLESS THEM, and SHARE THE LOVE OF CHRIST WITH THEM!!

Miss Diva's Frugal Shoe Fix

I must say, my 7 year old Miss Diva is pretty Frugal herself! She decorated her shoes with plastic ties, from a newspaper I think. (?) She takes after her Mommy!

My 5 year old a.k.a. Sweet Pea

Isn't she a doll? I'm completely and totally biased, but she is just about the most precious thing I can think of! This is who you all have been praying for!! And I am SO THANKFUL for your prayers, because now I have a praise report to share!! As of last Monday, (I'm SO late on actually posting this, but I've been working on this since Tuesday...) her liver function numbers have come back down to 1100, which is still pretty high, but much lower than the 2700 it spiked to! Everything else is getting better too! Her appetite is returning and she has put on about 2lbs! (She lost 7!) She is sleeping less, and is actually now fighting all attempts to get her to nap, sleep, and rest throughout the day. Can you blame her though? I would too if I'd been sleeping 16 hours a day for the past 3 weeks!! Most importantly she is FEELING better! Praise God! The Doctor has now dismissed the fear she was holding on to in regards to Lupus. THANK YOU JESUS!! I was trying not to freak out when the Doctor told me that, but I must admit, I was quite the "fretful" mess. I called the Dr. several times last week, but I didn't hear back from her regarding the rest of Sweet Pea's lab results. I'm going off the assumption that "no news, is good news" but I will call again first thing Monday morning anyway to get the final verdict regarding how contagious she is at this point, and whether or not she can start going back to her Step-Mom's house and our "normal" schedule.

Thank You all so much for your Prayers, Emails, and Encouragement! I know this might be a bit cliche, but you all are truly the best readers, kind, thoughtful, and loving! Everyday I am amazed at all the Lord has done in my life, and this new journey I'm starting out on with this blog, is just another blessing He has given me! Thank you to each and everyone of you, and may you all be blessed greatly!

Rosetta Stone Latin Giveaway!

For any other homeschoolers out there interested there is a current Rosetta Stone Latin Giveaway! Here's the info:

Rosetta Stone is the fastest way to learn a language and has been the #1 foreign language curriculum among homeschoolers for a while — and you can WIN the *all new* version 3 Rosetta Stone Homeschool LATIN program… FOR FREE! This is the first year you can get Latin in the brand new Version III update.

This is a $259 program (and believe me it’s worth every penny!)
This is a computer based curriculum and Rosetta Stone will also include a headset with microphone, and a supplementary “Audio Companion” CD so you can practice lessons in the car, on the go, or where-ever! Students participate in life-like conversations and actually produce language to advance through the program. Rosetta Stone incorporates listening, reading, grammar, vocabulary and writing along with speaking and pronunciation lessons. For parents, the new Parent Administrative Tools are integrated into the program to allow parents to easily enroll up to ten students in any of 12 predetermined lesson plans, monitor student progress, grade completed work (the program grades the work automatically as the students progress- I love that!), and you can view and print reports for transcripts. Homeschooling a lot of kids at your house? This program is designed to enroll and track up to ten students (five users on two computers) and will work for nearly all ages — from beginning readers up to college students.

To win this most excellent Latin program copy these paragraphs and post them in (or as) your next blog post, and/OR link to the contest from your facebook page and/OR email the information to your homeschool support group – Then go to the original page http://Jeneralities.com  and leave a comment saying that you’ve posted about, or have linked to, the contest. Please make sure the link works to get back to the original contest page when you post. And good luck!

I've heard that Rosetta Stone is an amazing way to learn another language. I've never been able to afford it, but I do intend on teaching my children Latin first, and this would be a perfect way to get the curriculum.....

My First Award!

Click HERE to see the video of my FIRST AWARD!

I've been Tagged...?

Ok, I'm new to this whole blog tagging thing... I really don't quite understand what it's about. But with that said, I really do appreciate the recognition that Savvy Squirrel gave me when she "tagged" me recently. So I will continue this "tagging" out of respect for her taking the time to do her post, and acknowledge me as a "great blog" Thank you Savvy Squirrel! So here it goes:

Unimportant Favorite Things:

I was recently tagged by Savvy Squirrel to list six unimportant things that make me happy. But before I start, here are the rules:

1. Mention the person who nominated you. Be sure to check out blog.

2. List six unimportant things that make you happy!

3. Tag six blogs and let them know with a small comment on their blog.

4. State the rules.

My List:

1. Butterflies: A small, fragile, yet incredibly majestic creature!

2. Coffee: Even though it doesn't give me a boost that others get... it's a comfort thing!

3. Handing over my Vons club card and coupons at the END of the transaction and watching the total drop! It's more of a visual impact thing...

4. My grape vine covered gazebo: it's bright green right now, and so serene looking. Plus every time I look at it I'm reminded of Jesus' words: For I am the vine..... beautiful!

5. Flip Flops: I wear them almost everyday, even in the rain! Much to my chiropractor's chagrin!

6. Vintage Emporium: A quaint, cozy little vintage store, where Julie, the owner, always puts a smile on my face! She is the kindest, friendliest woman, who remembers her customers by name, and always has little cookies on hand for the kids! Any gift coming from here makes me smile, and I can easily spend several hours just looking, and "wanting" everything she has! It is located on Orange/Wardlow in Long Beach, Ca.

Six Blogs I Love!

This was really hard to choose! There are SO many blogs out there I love! I tried to select some of my favorites from different categories... please don't be offended if you're not listed...

Deal Fanatic

I hope you enjoy these blogs as I much as I do!!

Thanks again for the tag, and thanks to you for reading this!

I Think I'm In Love!!

Don't ask me how, but I stumbled onto this CRAFTSBURY KIDS website/shop and I AM IN LOVE! I'm ordering the Lion Jigsaw Puzzle for my Son, mainly to hear him say "Yaiyan"... too cute! They have a great sale right now, AND even their non sale items are ADORABLE!! I am SO in love, and have found my NEW FAVORITE ONLINE "BOUTIQUE"!!
$3.60 (was $12) 70%off LIMITED TIME!

Though keep in mind this is a boutique, where almost everything is hand made with top quality in mind! So some of the prices are a bit out of my Frugal Budget, a girl can still window shop can't she!?

Here are a few of my FAVORITE things from their store!

I LOVE THIS JEWELRY!
Never before have I seen something this original, and breathtaking before!
I LOVE jewelry, and my favorite kind is unique one of a kind pieces, with that handmade quality touch. THIS took my breath away when I saw this, and I just stumbled onto their site! Now I find out this was featured in Better Homes and Gardens... (I need a subscription!)
I have 4 children, and I would LOVE to sport this one of a kind piece. And just think, EACH necklace is TRULY ONE OF A KIND, because no two children are exactly alike!!
I wish I had known about this before today, but I hear Mother's Day Gift 2010 bells ringing in my "If Only" mindset!

(because I love ALL things butterflies, dainty, and handmade!)

Please Join Me in Prayer

This is my precious, 5 year old daughter, who at the moment is very sick.
She has a severe case of Mono, with complications to the liver, and Strep Throat to boot!!
We got results this afternoon from her most recent blood work, that were not good.
Her numbers are WAY up, and she is getting sicker, not better.
The "specialist" is starting to suspect Lupus may be the cause of what's going on.
I would like to ask my fellow sister's in Christ, who read this blog, to join me in prayer for my daughter. I have faith that God is in control, and that all things work together for good, for those who believe in Him. I also have faith in my God, and believe that He, being the Creator of all, can perform miraculous healings, and nothing is too big for Him. He answers the prayers of his people, and I would like to ask all of my readers who are children of God, to join me in prayer. It's greatly appreciated! If you would like to know more about what is going on, or are just curious, please feel free to keep reading. If not, thank you for your prayers!

Last Wednesday we found out my daughter had Mono. I took her to the Dr. for something else completely, but started to bring some concerns I had about my 5 year old to the Doctor. You see about 4 weeks ago I noticed a change in her behavior. Her appetite changed, her sleeping patterns changed, and out of the blue she started taking naps again. I didn't think too much about it, and wasn't too concerned. After all she is 5 and 5 year olds still go through growth spurts. I chalked it up to another growth spurt, and was bracing myself for the shopping trip, I knew was coming! Then she started taking 3-4 hour naps. I thought it was odd, but explainable. Her brother's must be waking her up too early... (she shares a room with her 3 siblings) She's definitely going through a growth spurt! Then last Wednesday, she woke up from one of her now daily naps, crying that her throat was hurting really badly. This is not an uncommon complaint, and one she'd been having for about a week, as well as a tummy ache, but there were no accompanying fever's, swelling, anything!  I figured it was an excuse to get out of eating what was put in front of her. Another commonality in our household! This time was different though. She was actually crying about the pain in her throat, and her throat looked swollen. Sure enough, upon further investigation, I could see the pus on tonsils, so I took her to the Dr immediately, confident that my 5 year old had Strep Throat. Earlier that day I had conferred with my daughter's Step-Mom regarding the behavioral changes I had noticed, and she had noticed them too, and like me, thought she was going through a growth spurt. Once at the Doctor's office, my daughter's Pediatrician immediately cultured for Strep Throat, and we discussed the changes in my daughter. I was insisting to the Pediatrician that I suspected my daughter had Mono. The Pediatrician was highly skeptical, as it's not too common for 5 year olds to contract Mono. The Pediatrician was certain that my 5 year old was depressed. WHAT!? My 5 year old is depressed!? I don't think so! I know my daughter, and I also have dealt with depression many years, and she is not depressed. So after much insistence the doctor tested my daughter for everything. Labs were ordered to test her blood, white t-cells, liver function, kidney function, mono, you name it they tested for it. The results came back, and she definitely had Mono, but even scarier she had what was described to me as "mono induced hepatitis of the liver".  The doctor continued to express how serious this truly was for my 5 year old. They ordered more lab work two days after, and her numbers came down, meaning she was on the road to recovery and getting better! Then earlier this morning my daughter had to go in for yet more blood work... the results were not good. Her numbers had gone WAY up, even higher than the first initial test. So in fact, she's getting worse, when I thought she was getting better! I thought for sure today would bring great news from the doctor in regards to her lab results. Over the past two days, my 5 year old has been eating better, sleeping less, drinking 4-5 Pediasur's a day, and she's had more energy than in the last two weeks! (She was sleeping around 16 hours a day for a while!) So I was shocked to hear the bad news. But, it got worse. My daughter's pediatrician has been consulting with a specialist, as she has never personally had a Mono case this severe, so to be on the safe side, she's been discussing everything with the specialist, before discussing it with us. She informed me today, that the Specialist is starting to suspect Lupus is at play here, and that is why she's getting worse not better. The specialist wants to try a few things first, and then start testing my daughter next Wednesday if there is no improvement. So bright and early tomorrow morning I have to take my 5 year old to Urgent Care where she will be hooked up to an IV for 2-4 hours, and praying that she is only dehydrated, and that is causing her to get worse, not better. And this won't be a pretty sight in the morning, let me tell you! Just to get the blood drawn for the lab work these past 3 times, it was required my to wrap my legs around her and hold her tight, as well as the assistance of 2-3 technicians to help hold her down, while 1 draws the blood. Oh, all the while, I'm covering her mouth to muffle the blood curtling screams she's letting loose! Like a wild banschee!! The first time she had to get her blood drawn, there was a little girl around 8 years old who was waiting. After listening to Corinne scream bloody murder it was her turn to get blood drawn. She was hyperventilating before she ever got to the seat, and freaking out! This of course my daughter found funny, and now it was all I could do to muffle her laughter! Ay yi yi! Children!

Anyway, that is what is going on in our household. Oh, and me sanitizing like a mad woman trying to keep my 7 year old, 2 year old, and 1 year old from catching Mono, as it's HIGHLY CONTAGIOUS for the duration! Sound like fun? =)
Thank you for your prayers, and thank you for those of you who read this mini book for letting me unload my burden of stress, worry, and fear. It's always scary when the little one's get sick, and there's not much you can do as a parent but PRAY!!

If you would join me in prayer, I would HIGHLY appreciate it!
